The Earth Science World Image Bank (www.earthscienceworld.org/imagebank) is provided by the American Geological Institute (AGI) and contains over 6,000 geoscience world images freely available to the public, educators, and the geoscience community (see: image use)
NOAA, USGS, MODIS, and NASA images are included, as well as popular climate graphs and group photos. Images are indexed using the AGI's geo-reference information system standards.

The images are available higher-resolutions for on-screen displays. It is also possible to Submit a Photo. You can search by country, continent, or Lat/Lon.

The Optical Society of America has launched a new online-only, peer-reviewed journal: Advances in Optics and Photonics
It contains chapter-length review articles, tutorials, peer-reviewed letters to the editor, and multimedia.
Advances in Optics and Photonics is freely available in 2009.
