The Boulder labs Library congratulates David Wineland, of the NIST Time & Frequency Division, who shares the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics with Serge Haroche of France "for ground-breaking experimental methods that enable measuring and manipulation of individual quantum systems." Wineland's prize was announced on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 9 by the Nobel Prize committee. Read the official Nobel Prize announcement here. The American Physical Society (APS) has also published a press release and selected list of articles published in APS Journals. Previously, he has been awarded the 2007 National Medal of Science.

Researchers from NOAA CSD and CIRES will receive a CO-LABS award from Colorado Governor Hickenlooper for “High-Impact Research” as part of the Deepwater Horizon Atmospheric Science Team. The ceremony will be held October 25, 5:30 pm at CU Boulder. CO-LABS is a consortium of 24 federally-funded scientific labs in Colorado.
