AGU Open Access

AGU logoThe American Geophysical Union announced that all of its journal content from 1997 to 24 months ago was made open access today, May 1. In addition, AGU offers Green Open Access after six months, allowing the author's copy of an article to be placed in a repository.

AGU publishes three entirely open access journals: Journal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems (JAMES) and Earth's Future, both of which are available via the Library's E-Journals page, and the recently announced Earth and Space Science, which will publish its first articles later this year. The full-text of all content from these journals is available at the time of publication.

CrossRef to Introduce New Text and Data Mining API this Month

Springerlink Now Features Altmetrics

Springerlink logoSpringer recently announced that every article available via its online platform, Springerlink, will now include altmetrics. Altmetrics allow scientists to see where their work is being discussed and shared in the social web, including via tweets, social media sites, blogs, and news articles. If the article has been shared, a number indicating the number of postings will be displayed on the upper right-hand side of the page, just below the cover icon and alongside a “Share” link.

Clicking on the link will take you to a page powered by, which provides:

Kudos Launches Site this Month, Invites Authors to Improve Impact

Kudos is a new online service that gives you the tools to increase your article impact. Upon creating a free profile, you will have access to these features:
