350th Anniversary of Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society

The first issue of the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society was published on March 6th, 1665. At 350 years old, the publication is a pioneer in scientific publishing and peer review. The Philosophical Transactions has published a number of landmark papers, including:

American Meteorological Society (AMS) Introduces 23/5 Talks

AMS 23/5 logo

Using a TED Talk format, The “23/5 Talks” feature guest speakers presenting fresh perspectives on weather, climate, and water-related issues. The talks were introduced at the AMS  Annual Meeting in January, and were named after the Earth’s axial tilt of 23.5 degrees. AMS maintains a 23/5 Talks page featuring embedded videos of all four of this year’s talks, including:
