The library maintains a collection of books, journals, technical reports, and archival materials.
Books
The Library's book collection consists of over 14K print titles in both the Main and Branch libraries and over 25K eBooks available from any Boulder Labs computer (with an additional 22K eBooks accessible to NOAA and NTIA staff). Books may be reserved online via the library catalog and delivered to either library branch. Boulder Laboratories staff are encouraged to recommend materials for addition to the collection using the book recommendation form where the Acquisitions Committee, consisting of the professional library staff, recommends and votes on items for the collection. .
Journals
The Library provides to NOAA and NTIA staff subscriptions to around 150 journals and access to over 26K other journals via databases and pay-per-view token access. Archives to many of these journals are available electronically; others are available in print, with a current collection of 24K bound volumes. The journal collection may be searched via the library catalog and electronic copies of articles in the print archive collection obtained through document delivery.
Technical Reports
The library collects a small number of government documents. All technical reports produced by the Boulder Laboratory research agencies are collected with other scientific publications from NOAA, NIST and NTIA collected on a limited basis. The University of Colorado Boulder is a Federal Depository Library and can provide copies of reports through interlibrary loan.
Archives
The library's archives focuses on Boulder Laboratory history. These materials are available by request only and are for in-library use only. The archives collection may be searched via the library catalog and requested via the Library reference staff.
Standards
Standards are not collected at the Boulder Labs Library. IEEE standards are available through the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. The National Center for Standards and Certification Information (NCSCI) provides FREE standards to NIST employees only. The University of Colorado's Gemmill Engineering Library collects ASTM and ANSI standards and may be able to provide standards access. Otherwise, to obtain standards, users may purchase standards directly from the issuing body with their lab's funds.
